Role Overview

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced professional to lead our Commercial Banking Team in Kano. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving business growth, managing client relationships, and providing leadership to a dynamic team. This role is central to our strategic objectives in northern Nigeria and presents an exciting opportunity to work within a high-performing, customer-centric banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify new business opportunities and deliver tailored financial solutions

• Lead and motivate the commercial banking team to meet sales and service targets

• Drive growth in revenue, deposits, and quality risk assets through relationship management

• Understand client needs and align banking products to meet those needs effectively

• Oversee the execution of sales strategies by segment and product type

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients within the assigned sector

• Monitor and manage the sales pipeline, driving performance improvements

• Supervise the team’s KPIs, allocate responsibilities, and track outcomes

• Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless service delivery and client satisfaction

• Manage the credit process: writing, disbursement, monitoring, and recovery

• Conduct detailed credit appraisals, ensuring compliance with credit requirements

• Maintain in-depth knowledge of the assigned sector to meet growth targets

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, or a related discipline

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial banking or a similar role

• Strong leadership and people management skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

• Demonstrated expertise in banking products, credit processes, and client engagement

• Proven record of driving business growth and managing client portfolios

• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
