WAAW Foundation Scholarship supports young African women pursuing undergraduate studies in STEM fields in Africa. The goal is to empower women to focus on their studies and contribute to community development through the dissemination of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Eligibility Requirements
- Female student of African descent, residing and studying in Africa
- Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in a STEM field
- Must be in the first or second year, or the third year of a five-year program
- Under 32 years of age
- Demonstrate financial need, academic excellence, and leadership skills
Ineligible Applicants
- Male students
- Graduate students (Master’s/Doctoral)
- Students in non-STEM fields (including medical and nursing students)
Accepted Fields of Study
- STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
- (Pharmacy students are eligible; medical and nursing students are excluded.)
Required Documents
- Two (2) letters of recommendation
- One from a professor
- One from an academic advisor or mentor
- Official academic transcript
- Scanned copy of student ID

Payment Structure
- First payment: After official selection and document verification
- Second payment: After completing chapter outreach and participation requirements
- To be eligible for the second payment, scholarship recipients must:
- Join a WAAW STEM chapter WAAW at your university or found one
- Participate in two or more STEM outreach programs
- Submit reports/documentation of outreach activities
